Lord Mahavir Swami – The Torchbearer of Ahimsa and Truth 🕊️ Lord Mahavir Swami, the 24th and last Tirthankara of Jainism, was born in 599 BCE in Kundagrama (modern-day Bihar, India) into a royal Kshatriya family of the Ikshvaku dynasty. His birth name was Vardhamana, symbolizing prosperity and spiritual growth. Despite being born into luxury, he renounced worldly pleasures at the age of 30 in pursuit of spiritual truth. For 12 years, Mahavir practiced intense meditation, penance, and self-discipline, ultimately attaining Kevala Jnana (infinite knowledge) under a sal tree. With this enlightenment, he became a spiritual teacher and revitalized Jainism, emphasizing the core principles of Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), Asteya (non-stealing), Brahmacharya (celibacy), and Aparigraha (non-possessiveness). He traveled extensively across ancient India for the next 30 years, spreading his message of peace, compassion, and self-realization. Mahavir’s teachings formed the foundation of Jain philosophy and inspired millions to follow the path of righteousness. He attained Nirvana (liberation) at the age of 72 at Pavapuri, Bihar. His legacy continues to live on through the values of Jainism and the festival of Mahavir Jayanti, celebrated with great devotion. 🌿 "Live and let live" – The essence of Mahavir Swami’s teachings continues to guide humanity towards a more peaceful and conscious world.
